The World Cup as Started!!!!!
For those of you who have been living in a cave or were recently lost in a desert island over the last few months, you should know that the biggest sporting event in the world has been rocking our planet for the past 6 days…The WORLD CUP 2006!
The World Cup has started and with it the hopes of millions of fans spread around the world. I have to tell you that I am supporting PORTUGAL, and I’m hopping that we can outshine our last EURO2004 participation, where we managed to come second and became the European vice-champions of football (aka soccer).
The Portuguese debut was played in Cologne (which means “colony” in Portuguese), against the Portuguese ex-colony Angola, who played for the first time in the world cup. Ironic ain’t it?
VS.
In a game charged with emotion and mixed-feelings, Portugal had the best start in a major competition of the past 20 years beating the lacks of Angola by 1:0. The major star of the game was one of the common suspects: Luis FIGO. He played a great game with the highlight being his assist for the Portuguese goal (watch the video below).
With 3 points in the bag we are now preparing for the big game against Iran and while loudly supporting our “Angolan brothers” in their quest for the second stage.
Força Portugal!!
